Have your workouts lost their appeal? Do you dread heading to the gym on a frosty Monday morning? Here are some tips to get you building muscle again.
Maybe your chosen gym isn’t the best, if you’re finding it so hard to drag yourself there. The gym should be your oasis, your retreat from the world. You should be nuratrim able to use it to get away from work for a few hours, be by yourself with your thoughts, and pound out some tensions you might be having.
Try switching around your schedule. If you’ve been going to the gym in the morning, try going in the evenings instead. Changing your regime is one of the best things for building muscle – if you constantly do the same boring workouts your body is going to used to it, and you’re not going to see great gains. Try going fewer times during the week, but staying for longer each time. Or increase the cardiovascular work you do for a while – a difference mix of cardiovascular and weight lifting can begin to jumpstart your body building.
Change the reps that you do. If you normally do three sets of twelve reps on each lift, try increasing the weight till you can only perform six reps per set. Or lower the weight and go for some longer sets of twenty five reps. Each of these different types of lifts will challenge your body in different ways. Don’t just stick to the machines and weights you’re used to or best at – it’s just as important to work out all the smaller muscles to give yourself a better all over physique.
Finally, if you normally go to the gym alone, consider a spot partner. They can give you the additional motivation and support to go the extra few reps and you’ll begin building muscle again.
